Collar Family Vineyards 2016 Tempranillo

Collar Family Vineyards 2016 Tempranillo

With 20 months aging in oak barrels, this Southern Oregon Tempranillo is in the style of Rioja's Reserva wines with enough structure to bottle age like a Gran Reserva. It offers enticing aromas of ripe dark fruit mixed with sweet tobacco, cedar, black peppercorn and just a touch of vanilla-caramel. On the palate, flavors of cherry and dark chocolate find a nice balance, leading to a finish showing a nice acidity alluding to plum skin with a dusting of baking spices. - Reviewed by Gary Hayes
