Latah Creek Wine Cellars 2016 Maywine

This unique offering is made in the tradition of German Maiwine combining white wine, a small amount of fruit juice and woodruff herbs. While sweet, the Chenin Blanc grapes were picked early for a higher acid level and it drinks more balanced than the 5.5% residual sugar would indicate. On the nose, herbal aromas of green grass and hay mingle with notes of fresh raspberries and beeswax. On the palate, honey, a dab of strawberry jam and maraschino cherry are prominent with enough candied orange peel on the finish to keep it in balance. Serve this with spicy food, fruit-based desserts or as dessert itself.
