William Grassie Wine Estates 2014 Courageux

This red blend from Woodinville Washington's William Grassie Wine Estates includes 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot and smaller portions of Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. On the nose are complex aromas led by blackberry jam, but showing notes of cedar, Bay leaf, mint, Allspice and a prominent streak of earthiness. On the palate, flavors are reminiscent of a dark berry sauce balanced with notes of dark chocolate, violet and an elegant finish hinting at cocoa and graphite. - Reviewed by Gary Hayes
