Clearwater Canyon Cellars 2016 Coco's Reserve No. 5

This red blend from Lewiston, Idaho's Clearwater Canyon Cellars includes 33% Malbec, 32% Petite Sirah, 20% Carmenere, 10% Cabernet Franc and smaller amounts of Petit Verdot and Merlot. It offers aromas of a dark berry sauce that meld with savory notes of green pepper, black peppercorn, dried herbs and baking spice. On the palate, dark fruit alluding to black cherry and blackberry meet notes of cocoa, lavender and a graphite minerality leading to a dry finish that hints at bittersweet dark chocolate. - Reviewed by Gary Hayes
