Willamette Valley Vineyards 2013 Elton Pinot Noir

Elegantly structured bright red fruit mixes beautifully with notes of earth and floral aromas in this expressive offering. Baking spices are upfront on the nose that alludes to cherry pie along with notes of red licorice, cigar box, brown sugar and sweet forest floor, all mingling with aromas of fragrant rose. Bright flavors of red huckleberry and strawberry jam leap out on the palate, then earthy notes of dried leaves and hibiscus tea emerge before fading to reveal hints of cocoa and dusty gravel on an elegant finish. This would make a wonderful pairing with duck, roasted pork loin, salmon or a soft, ripened cheese. - Reviewed by Gary Hayes
