Longship Cellars 2015 Star Ship Red Blend

This red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Malbec and small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot is fruit forward but shows some nice finesse in balance. On the nose, you'll find dried cherry, clove, cedar, cigar box and secondary notes of brown sugar, black peppercorn and dried herbs. On the palate, it has a juicy mouthful with flavors of blueberry and plum along with notes of cocoa, a streak of minerality alluding to graphite and a finish showing violet and cola. - Reviewed by Gary Hayes
