Belle Fiore Winery 2017 Icon Montepulciano

Central Italy meets Oregon's Rogue Valley in this wine made from the Montepulciano grape varietal, not to be confused with Sangiovese from Tuscany's Montepulciano that is labeled with the regional name. This wine is a medium-plus purple with aromas of jammy black fruit and notes of cedar, dried herbs and tobacco. On the palate, it shows some nice ripe fruit alluding to Italian plum and dark berries followed by firm tannins that lead you to an earthy finish hinting at cocoa and a dusting of finely espresso.
