Nero d'Avola is an important red wine grape in Sicily and is one of Italy's most important indigenous varieties, known for producing full-bodied fruit driven wines with prominent tannins. On the nose, this one from the Columbia Gorge presents aromas of dried strawberry with notes of menthol, leather and a hint of dark chocolate. On the palate, it delivers a bright and juicy introduction with flavors of black cherry and plum skin that provide a lengthy mid-palate, then reveals earthy notes of cocoa and clay dust on the finish.
