Chris James Cellars 2020 Lagrein

Lagrein is a northern Italian varietal originating from the mountainous South Tyrol region and this one is estate grown in the Yamhill-Carlton District of Willamette Valley. The varietal is known for its high acidity and tannic structure. On the nose, this Willamette Valley version presents bold herbal and spice aromas of green peppercorn and clove with rich notes of black fruit. On the palate, it delivers on the promise of acidity with bright notes of black cherry and blackberry that are met on the mid-palate by prominent earthy-minerally notes with a finish alluding to graphite.
