Collar Family Vineyards 2016 Syrah

This is a fruit forward style Syrah from Southern Oregon's Rogue Valley that finds a rich complexity and enough spice and earthy notes to keep it in balance. It leads with complex aromas of blackberry jam with notes of black pepper, sweet tobacco, Allspice, licorice and hints of floral lavender. On the palate, flavors allude to plum sauce balanced with bittersweet chocolate and clove spice before a streak of graphite minerality delivers a polished, dry finish. - Reviewed by Gary Hayes
