SMAK Wines 2020 Fall/Winter Rose

Fiona Mak's SMAK Wines in Walla Walla is all about the range of possibility for rose wines and this is one of two Gold Medal winners from her 2020 vintage. This one is a rose of Syrah, pale copper in color in the style of the rose of Provence. On the nose, fruit and florals find an enticing balance with intense notes of orange blossom and fresh fruit salad with banana. On the palate, it's bright but balanced, showing rhubarb with a good dose of minerality with notes of pear and melon rind commanding the finish. This is a winner for any season.
