William Grassie Wine Estates 2013 Cadeau Imprevu
Published: January 25, 2018
This red blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot along with Syrah and Petit Verdot is dark, rich and complex with a wonderful balance revealing just a touch of ripe fruit with a load of earthy and savory flavors to explore. On the nose, ripe dark fruit, cedar and black peppercorn are in the forefront, but you'll also find notes of ground espresso, dark chocolate, baking spices and a hint of dried herbs. Flavors of black cherry and plum sauce are at its core, but earthy and savory notes of violet, cocoa, peppery spice, pencil lead and a touch of bell pepper are all along for the ride through a mile-long, polished finish. - Reviewed by Gary Hayes
